Call for Works | Individual Submissions

Independent composers and composer’s authorized representative are invited to submit scores/projects for the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) World New Music Days 2017, taking place in Vancouver, Canada from November 2-8, 2017.
 
In the spirit of the ISCM’s embrace of aesthetic diversity, submissions are encouraged in a wide variety of styles, reflecting the plurality of new music today.
 
Submissions to the Festival
 
Submissions to the Festival fall into two categories.  This application process on Submittable.com is for Individual Submissions only. For more information please click on iscm2017.ca.
 
The ISCM World New Music Days 2017 in Vancouver, Canada is committed to a diverse and inclusive Festival. Our goal for the Festival is to achieve gender parity in the programming of works, ensembles, and panels. Diversity in all its forms (race, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, language, physical ability, and age) will be a guiding factor when programming the General Assembly, Festival, and all events associated with the Festival. Applications are particularly welcome from women and traditionally under-represented populations.
 
Submission Deadline
November 15, 2016 at 11:59PM PST (Pacific Standard Time). Submissions received later than this will not be considered.
 
Programming Decisions
Selected works for the ISCM World New Music Days 2017 will be announced by early 2017. Please do not enquire before March 31, 2017.
 
Individual Submissions
An Individual Submission is submitted by an independent composer or a composer’s authorized representative. Only one work per composer may be submitted. Individual Submissions are not guaranteed a performance. Space for Individual Submissions is limited, but we will consider all submissions to the best of our ability.
 
Please provide accurate duration for the work submitted. While preference will be given to compositions with a duration of 12 minutes or less, works of all lengths will be considered.
 
Individual Submissions must be submitted online in English via Submittable.com.
An entry fee of €53.50 applies to Individual Submissions, payable by PayPal at the time of submission.
 
Individual Submissions must include the following materials:
  1. The composer’s personal and contact information, as required on Submittable.com.
  2. The score (PDF document preferred), or audio/video documentation if the work does not have a written score.
  3. An audio or video recording of the work (if possible).
  4. Program notes for the submitted work in English (maximum 100 words).
  5. Technical rider which specifies all equipment that is necessary to perform the work.
  6. Short biography of the composer in English (maximum 100 words).
  7. Proof of nationality of the composer (copy of passport or identity card).
  8. High-resolution digital photograph of the composer.
  9. Accurate duration of the work.
  10. Year of composition.
  11. Payment of the €53.50 entry fee. The entry fee must be paid at the time of submission.
We encourage you to apply early so that we can review your application and make certain all information is provided before the deadline. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
